Stuffed bun(maalu paan) & basic bun dough recipe


Ingredients 


  • 500 g bread flour/ all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp warm water
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter/ oil
  • 2 eggs + 1 for brushing
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions


  • Mix warm milk , 1 tbsp sugar and yeast in a bawl. Keep aside to foam.
  • Mix flour , salt and remaining sugar in a large bawl.
  • Add yeast mixture and water. Knead it until combined .
  • Add butter/oil little by little and knead well until you get a smooth dough.
  • ( do not add additional flour to knead, if it is sticking to your hands apply some oil/ butter on your palms and knead. You will get a shaggy dough)
  • Place the dough on a greased bowl for about 1 hr Or till double in size.
  • Punch it down and knead it again on a clean surface till smooth.
  • Divid the dough into 20 equal parts and roll into bolls.
  • Roll it to a 1/4" thick circle and keep filling.
  • Fold the edges and make shapes you prefer.
  • Keep aside for 10 mints and brush with a beaten egg.
  • Bake in a preheated oven  on 180degrees for 15-20 mints or till brown.
  • Apply some butter on the buns as soon as you take them out from the oven.
  • Allow it to cool and serve.


This dough is the basic bun dough. You can make any shapes or plain buns using this dough.
