Beef do pyaza


Ingredients 

  • 300g beef
  • 1 large onion 
  • 2 -3 green chillies( sliced)
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Spice mixture 


  • 5-6 garlic pods
  • Small ginger piece 
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 cardamom
  • 4-5 curry leaves

  • Crush or grind them together.Keep aside.

Curd mixture 


  • 2-3 tbsp curd
  • 4-5 tsp red chilly powder
  • 2-3 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder

  • Mix well into a smooth paste.

  • Heat 5-6 tbsp oil in a pan.
  • Add cumin and mustard seed and allow it to splutter.
  • Now add the onion and a pinch of salt.
Leave it to fried until golden.

  • Now Add the spice mixture , tomatoes, green chilling and some curry leaves
  • Stir well.add salt.
  • Cook covered till the tomatoes lose their stiffness.
  • Stir well  the spices till well combined.
  • Now add the beef pieces and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder. Stir and cook covered for 10-15 mints .
  • Add curd mixture.
  • Mix well. 
  • Cook until thickened and the oil is separated from the spices.
  • Now add 1-2 cups or enough of water to cook beef.
  • Cover and cook until the beef is softened and the gravy is thickened.
The gravy level is up to you. If you don't like much gravy you can cook till the gravy dissolved. 
  • Add chopped coriander and cumin powder and cook for few seconds.
  • Turn off the heat.
  • Add lemon juice . Stir.
  • Garnish with some extra coriander leaves and serve with rice or naan .
